Dr. Philipp Zimmermann,
founder of entosiast

After studying in the departments of biology and veterinary medicine, I completed my PhD in zoo and wildlife medicine in 2009. This was followed by several years as a practicing veterinarian in small animal and reptile medicine – where I first came into contact with insects as a natural food source for my reptile patients. 

 

2012 saw a career change. In 2016, while working as a science journalist, I first became aware of the topic of "insects as an alternative source of protein for the future" - and was immediately convinced of the sustainable potential of this innovative approach. At a time when we urgently need alternative ways and perspectives for our agriculture, our handling of natural raw materials, and the protection of nature and climate, I was convinced by the arguments cited "pro beneficial insects".

 

Since then, I have been continuously expanding my knowledge on the subject of beneficial insects, attending international courses, conferences and expert panels, and maintaining a regular exchange with pioneers in the German insect sector.
